Composite Numbers: Things to Know About Them

The numbers can be classified based on several factors which they have for example if the number will be having just two factors one and number itself then it will be a prime number and on the other hand if the number has more than two factors then it will be considered as the composite numbers. The composite numbers can be defined as the natural numbers which have more than two factors and in other words, a number that is divisible by more than numbers in the form of number one and number itself will be considered as the composite number. 4, 6, 9, 8, 10 are the first few composite numbers and in the case of numbers four and six, they will be known as composite numbers because they are made by combining other numbers. The very basic idea of composite numbers is also very much important and it can also be termed as the fundamental theorem of arithmetic.

Following are the most important properties of the composite numbers:

  • The composite number will be a positive integer that can be formed by multiplying two smaller positive integers.
  • All the composite numbers are evenly divisible by smaller numbers that can be both prime as well as composite
  • Every composite number will be made up of two or more prime numbers.

How to find out the composite numbers?

To find out the composite numbers the individuals need to find out the factors of a given number and if the number will be having more than two factors then it will be co-prime. The best way of figuring out if a particular composite number is true or not is to conduct the divisibility test because it will help in determining if the number is prime or it is composite. The divisibility test will be the concept in which the number will be divided evenly by another number.

Following are the types of composite numbers:

  • Odd composite numbers: All the odd integers which are not prime will be the odd composite numbers for example 9, 21, 27 will be the odd composite numbers. 9 and 15 will be the odd composite because these two numbers have or divisors and satisfy the condition of composite numbers.
  • Even composite numbers: All the even numbers which are not prime will be the even composite numbers for example 4, 10, 12, 16 will be even composite numbers. Consider the example of four, 10, and 12 will be the even composite because they have even divisors and helps in satisfying the conditions of composite numbers.
  • Smallest composite number: The composite number will be considered as a number that has a divisor other than one and the number itself. So, two is not a composite number because it has two divisors. Three is not a composite number one and three and number four is the only number that helps in satisfying the conditions of a composite number which is the main reason that four is considered to be the smallest composite number.

Hence, it is very much important for individuals to be aware of these kinds of number systems so that they can score well in the examination. Factor determination is the best possible way of finding out if a particular number is a composite or not because this will help in making sure that people will be able to determine if the numbers are composite or not. The list of composite numbers from one to hundred will be very vast and one number is not composite because it has the sole divisor of one. Hence, it is the responsibility of every parent to enroll their children on the right kind of platforms like Cuemath so that they become masters of the world of composite numbers and prime numbers without any kind of problem which will ultimately help them to fetch good marks in the examination and become successful individuals.
