Huawei Mate 30 Pro: Features And Price

Huawei Mate 30 Pro

Huawei has finally announced its new flagship phones, the Mate 30 and the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. At an event Munich, the Chinese tech giants announced their first new phones since the company was banned in the US.

Huawei had already made it clear that they would still retain the Android Operating System in their new devices. And they have done so. But the new phones are missing the Google Mobile Services (GMS) apps. Since the GMS apps are licensed by Google, an American corporation, Huawei cannot have them pre-installed on their devices. But Huawei has offered alternatives in the Mate 30. For instance, in place of the PlayStore app, Huawei offers its own App Gallery store for downloading apps.

The ban also prohibits Huawei from launching new devices in the U.S.

But now, enough about the ban, The Mate 30 is a beautiful device. It features a display that wraps 88 degrees around the side. This gives the phone an edge-to-edge display that has no side bezels. The Mate 30 has a 6.62-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080. The Mate 30 Pro has a 6.63 inch OLED display with a higher 2400 x 1176 resolution. Both phones have a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and support DCI-P3 HDR. Huawei has added a “Cinematic Color Rendering Engine” that can adjust the color in real-time to match the genre of content being viewed.

The phones will be available in a lot of different color options, including emerald green, cosmic purple, space silver, and black. In addition to this, Huawei has also introduced two new designs that feature vegan leather. These designs are available in two colors: orange and forest green.

The rear camera is arranged in a circular cutout that Huawei calls a “Halo ring design”. Inside this ring are three lenses in the Mate 30 and four in the Mate 30 Pro. The Mate 30 features a 40-megapixel SuperSensing lens, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens (with 3x zoom capability). The Mate 30 Pro, in addition to these three lense, features a fourth “Cine Camera” lens. The Cine Camera is specifically for video and features a large 1/1.54-inch sensor. It can capture ultra-slow motion (7680 fps) and has support for real-time bokeh. In addition to all this, the SuperSensing camera in the Mate 30 Pro has a max ISO of 409,600.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro Hardware

The Mate 30 is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 990 chip. This chip supports both standalone and non-standalone 5G networks. It also gives Huawei a clear advantage over competitors such as Apple that does not offer 5G with its iPhone 11. Although 5G networks aren’t quite ubiquitous right now, they will surely be in the coming years. And for the price of these flagship phones, buyers will expect some sort of 5G future-proofing. The Mate 30 also packs a total of 21 antennas, 14 dedicated for 5G. This gives Huawei’s new flagship one of the most advanced antenna set up in the market right now.

Conclusion

Huawei hasn’t made an official announcement of the release date of these phones. But based on past releases, we can expect the phones to come out in October.
